SOMETIMES YOU JUST WANT SOMETHING REALLY GOOD
I’ve never understood why snacks are treated like an afterthought.
There are the snacks you eat because you’re hungry, and then there are the snacks you actually look forward to. The ones you keep in the cupboard because you know that at some point you’re going to want something a little bit special.
For me, gourmet snacking is really about that small moment of indulgence. A beautifully made chocolate, something salty and perfectly crunchy, dried fruit that actually tastes like fruit, or a box of biscuits that feels almost too nice to open. Nothing complicated. Just something that makes an ordinary afternoon feel a little more enjoyable.
THE GOOD STUFF DOESN’T NEED AN OCCASION
I think we sometimes save the nice things for when people are coming over.
The beautiful chocolates stay unopened. The fancy biscuits wait in the cupboard. The good nuts are somehow always being “saved.”
I’m trying to get better at that.
Open the chocolate.
Make the coffee.
Put the bowl of snacks on the table even if you’re the only person eating them.
There is something lovely about making an ordinary Tuesday feel like it deserves a little treat too.
FOR WHEN PEOPLE COME OVER
And then, of course, there is the joy of having good snacks when people actually do come over.
A few really good things can make hosting feel effortless. Put out some gourmet crisps, nuts, chocolates, biscuits or dried fruit, add something to drink and suddenly you’ve got something everyone can reach for while you’re talking.
You don’t need an elaborate spread.
You just need things you’d be happy to eat yourself.
THE HER FAVORITES GOURMET SNACKS EDIT
This is our collection of the snacks we’d happily keep in the pantry and bring out when we want something a little more special. Gourmet chocolates, premium nuts, indulgent biscuits, elegant treats and those unexpected little finds that disappear much faster than you planned.
Because sometimes the best kind of luxury is incredibly simple:
a really, really good snack.
